Emergency Relief System Design

ersd

Emergency Relief System (ERS) design is an essential part of process safety management (PSM) evaluation. Our comprehensive ERS design services include reactivity testing of credible upset scenarios and state-of-the-art calculations; we offer a total ERS solution. FAI provides a cost effective approach to relief system design using the AIChE DIERS Technology (OSHA- 29 CFR 1910.11 calls DIERS Technology, "An example of good engineering practice for process safety management of highly hazardous chemicals"). FAI can also provide site-wide relief evaluation with complete facility walk downs to verify the adequacy of existing relief systems and providing the necessary documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements. In order to evaluate the hazard potential and relieving requirements of potentially reactive systems, FAI in-house testing services use state-of-the-art adiabatic calorimetry to provide the necessary data for vapor, gassy and hybrid chemical reaction systems to confirm the designed ERS system.

Services Include:

  • Laboratory Testing
  • Pressure Relief Design
  • Effluent Handling Design
  • Fire and Explosion Dynamics
  • Incident Investigation and Litigation Support
  • Process Engineering Design and Support
  • Process Hazards Analysis
