Debris Intrusion
The FAI hydraulics testing laboratory is configured to examine the influence of debris that can accumulate at the suction point of recirculation systems. The FAI hydraulics lab has been used for:
- Containment sump testing in support of GS-191 resolution
- Flume facility for debris erosion rate quantification and debris interceptor design/validation testing
- Chemical effects testing including screening of candidate alternate buffer chemicals
- Experimental quantification of vortex correlations for plant and system specific correlations
- Vortex suppressor design and validation for piping systems and tanks
