FLOWCHART
Use our basic flowchart to help find out if your dust is combustible.

ONE-PAGER
Dusts can explode. Even though there is published data on many materials, the OSHA Dust NEP suggests that testing be performed for materials found at each unique facility.

WHITEPAPER
The MAAP4 model can provide a good characterization of the material creep behavior exhibited in a large scale experiment performed using reactor grade steel and under thermal-hydraulic boundary conditions that are typical of severe accident sequences that would challenge steel integrity.

ONE-PAGER
When it comes to combustible dust, it's better to know what you are dealing with so you can plan safely! If you have a dust collector and aren't sure what to do next, our one-pager can help you!

CASE STUDY
This case study highlights a deflagration incident (explosion) that occurred at a wood pellet manufacturing plant. A hot ember from a smoldering nest traveled into the pellet cooler ducting. This initiated a combustible dust deflagration and led to subsequent fires.

WHITEPAPER
For large atmospheric vessels the potential occurrence of sufficient liquid swell resulting in two-phase flow is of special importance. Based upon an extension of analytical work it would appear justifiable to ignore two-phase flow effects for non-foamy systems.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
In response to continued rapid growth in safety needs for the chemical and nuclear industries, Fauske & Associates offers a complete range of Risk Management Services, including hazard identification and analysis for reactive chemical systems.

WHITEPAPER

WHITEPAPER
Evaluating chemical hazards is a crucial part of plant safety. Chemical systems and processes that require the handling of flammable gases and vapors pose a specific type of hazard that needs to be addressed. Mishandling of flammable gases or vapors can lead to hazards such as fires or explosions.

TESTING GUIDE
It happens far too often – news of a fire or explosion in an industrial facility that causes considerable property damage or, even worse, worker casualties. This guide will introduce the different tests used in characterizing and identifying flammable hazards.

ONE-PAGER
When implemented properly, a PSM program creates a network of interrelated elements that complement each other and deliver increased knowledge of the process to improve safety, reduce operating costs, increase productivity, and establish a competitive advantage.

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR
With release of the 2024 Edition of NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, now is the perfect time to get a refresher on this important process safety topic. Enforceable under OSHA and many state and local regulations, NFPA 30 provides safeguards to reduce the hazards associated with the storage, handling, and use of flammable and combustible liquids.

CASE STUDY
Fauske & Associates, a world leader in chemical and nuclear process safety, performs tests to determine what is the self accelerating decomposition temperature of a 50 kg package of azodicarbonamide.

WHITEPAPER
A minimum best practice (MBP) is proposed to provide enough information to process, store and transport chemicals safely. The primary objective of the MBP is to reduce the frequency and consequences of runaway reaction-generated accidents, particularly those occurring within companies with limited technical and financial resources.

WHITEPAPER
The Advanced Reactive System Screening Tool (ARSSTTM) is an easy-to-use and cost-effective pseudo-adiabatic calorimeter that can quickly and safely identify potential chemical hazards in the process industry. ARSSTTM data yield critical experimental knowledge of the rates of temperature and pressure rise during a runaway reaction, thereby providing reliable energy and gas release rates which can be applied directly to full scale process conditions.

WHITEPAPER
As DIERS veterans know, FAI is not just an instrument user but also a developer and manufacturer of adiabatic calorimeters since we designed and built the original DIERS Bench Scale Apparatus in the early 1980’s. The VSP2 is now used worldwide by top chemical and pharmaceutical companies, and our own laboratory includes three VSP2 systems.

WHITEPAPER
Fauske & Associates offers services for safer scale-up of batch, semi-batch and continuous processes. Use this Process Scale Up Guide to help understand chemical and industrial process safety testing needs.

WHITEPAPER
With the growing concern of fires or explosions resulting from processing or handling hazardous material, it is important to characterize the flammable properties of that material. The flammability properties of fuels have been extensively studied for many years and are relatively well understood.
